Dr. Malathi Srinivasan
Clinical Professor of Medicine - Primary Care and Population Health
Stanford University
“Our physical & home environment is a direct determinant of our health, and is immunoregulatory. In a year, we breathe about 6 million times, drink 250 gallons of liquid, eat almost 2 tons of food, with hundreds of compounds interacting on our skin and immune systems. Small environmental changes will make a big difference — especially in early childhood development and for vulnerable adults.”

Dr. Mark Cullen
Former Senior Associate Dean for Research & Founding Director, Stanford Center for Population Sciences
Stanford University School of Medicine
“Having spent 4 decades studying the health effects of occupational and environmental exposures, as well as treating thousands of men women and children with varying impacts of such hazards, I consider a safe living and working environment paramount to long term health and well being.”

Dr. Lauren Eggert
Associate Professor of Medicine
UCSF Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine
“As a lung doctor, I see air pollution as one of the greatest threats to respiratory health. Already air pollution (both indoor and outdoor) is the fastest growing cause of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary DIsease (COPD) worldwide.”

Membership FAQ
Is Nestwell right for my home?
Yes — whether you live in an apartment, a single-family house, a condo, a townhome, or somewhere in between, Nestwell is designed to meet you where you live.
Every home has its own health profile. Apartments deal with shared ventilation, building materials you didn't choose, and water systems you can't see. Older houses bring different concerns than new builds. Renters have different constraints than owners.
We tailor your report and recommendations to your specific situation — including what's actually in your control. There are meaningful improvements you can make in any home, and we focus on the ones that fit your space, your lease, and your budget.
If you have walls, water, and air, we can help.
How does Nestwell figure out my home's health?
It starts with a short intake — about 1–3 minutes. You tell us a bit about your home, areas of concern, and we do the rest.
We combine your answers with location-specific environmental data and benchmarks from leading science-backed data sources, and give you a Nestwell Score and a directional risk signal across the categories that matter for indoor health: air, water, materials, and more.
You get a personalized report that explains what we found, what it means in plain language, and what's worth acting on first. If a category warrants a closer look, we'll recommend a specific test kit from our curated marketplace.
Once your test results come back, your virtual walkthrough with a Nestwell expert puts the data in context — what your results actually mean, what's most important to address, and how to act on them.
As you make changes to your home, your score updates — so you can see your home's health improve over time. We're upfront about what we know and what we don't.
Where does the data come from?
Your initial Nestwell Score draws on trusted public data tied to your address — at the neighborhood and ZIP code level. We pull from sources like the EPA, the Environmental Working Group (EWG), and property data providers to build a baseline picture of what's likely happening in and around your home. We're constantly updating our data sources to provide the most up to date and credible information.
That baseline tells you what's typical for your area — water quality, air quality, environmental risks, and more. It's a strong starting point, but it's still a regional view.
To go from outdoor and area-level data to what's actually happening inside your home, we partner with SimpleLab, a trusted lab, for at-home testing kits. When your report flags a category worth confirming, our kits give you lab-grade results specific to your home — not just your neighborhood.
That combination — public data for the baseline, lab testing for the specifics — is how we move from "homes like yours" to "your home."
How long does it take to get my report?
Your initial Nestwell report is ready in a few minutes — as soon as you finish your intake. You'll see your Nestwell Score, your risk signal across each category, and your top recommended next steps right away.
If your report flags a category worth testing, lab results from your test kits typically come back in 3–7 days, depending on the kit you've selected and shipping time.
Once your results are in, you can schedule your virtual walkthrough with a Nestwell expert to make sense of the data and build your plan.
What's included in the virtual walkthrough?
Your virtual walkthrough is a 30-minute video session with a Nestwell home health expert, scheduled after your test kit results come back. The walkthrough is designed to help you make sense of your testing data — not just see numbers, but understand what they mean for your home and what to do about them.
Before the call, your expert has already reviewed your intake, your report, and your lab results — so you spend the time on what matters.
Together you'll:
- Walk through your test results and what they actually mean for your home
- Translate numbers into priorities — what to address first vs. what's not urgent
- Match each priority to a concrete next step — a DIY fix, a product swap, or a professional service
- Show concerns first-hand for live feedback and recommendations
- Build a sequenced plan with realistic timing and budget
You'll leave with a written recap and clear next steps.
